NEW YORK—Building upon the success of the Barnet
auction in May, during which 100% of the lots
sold and the presale estimate was exceeded, Sotheby’s
is planning another curated selection of the arts
of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas in New York.
This various-owner sale will be timed as usual to coincide
with the major auctions of contemporary, impressionist,
and modern art held during the height of
the New York season. The sale is scheduled for November

featured as the frontispiece in The Eloquent Dead:
Ancestral Sculpture of Indonesia and Southeast Asia;

Republic of the Congo, notable among them a Kongo
nail fetish collected between 1907 and 1909 and
an important Songe kifwebe mask; a Bamileke royal
sculpture; a fi ne Lobala drum; and an important Igbo
ikenga post.
HERITAGE
DALLAS—Heritage Auctions will hold its autumn
ethnographic art sale on November 12, 2018. It will
feature a combination of arts from Africa, Oceania,
and the Americas, both historic and Pre-Columbian.
