MATA
NEW YORK—The annual Madison Ancient and Tribal
Art (MATA) show will be held May 10–12, 2019, at
the Arader Gallery on Madison Avenue on New York
City’s Upper East Side. Participating dealers include
Galerie Flak, James Stephenson, Amyas Nagalae, Peter
Boyd, and Jerry Bock, who will bring a wide variety
of art from Africa, the Pacifi c, and the Pre- and
Post-Columbian Americas. The 1903 mansion in
which the show is held is the site of the historic Perls
Gallery, and its spacious and elegant rooms show the
artworks to great advantage. Though small, this is always
an interesting event and one that is held in close
proximity to the major New York auctions.
