ART IN MOTION marked by the return of Bernard de Grunne, who last participated in the show in 2004. He plans to present, among other things, two Pende masks from the DRC and a beautiful Yoruba bowl fi gure with a smooth and sensual surface. The many other Belgian exhibitors showing tribal art will include Pierre Dartevelle, who will surprise those who know him with a Marquesas Islands stone tiki; Galerie Deletaille, which will show a selection of terracottas from Africa and Central America; Sarah de Monbrison; Galerie Grusenmeyer- Woliner; and Didier Claes, who is preparing a show that will feature paintings by Sophie Cauvin, whose use of symbolism evinces African infl uence. Her multimedia works will be displayed alongside major African sculptures from his gallery. Lastly, Serge Schoffel will present a varied selection of tribal artworks, the common denominator of which will be their fi ne quality. As has been the case for a number of years, a number of tribal art dealers from outside Belgium will also participate in BRAFA. Jacques Germain’s fondness for the event brings him across the Atlantic again to participate 22 in it, and he will show a selection of fi ne classical African works including, among others, an unusually fi ne Kuba cup from the DRC and a Mama mask from Nigeria. Three galleries from Paris also will be present: Yann Ferrandin, Bernard Dulon, and Galerie Schoffel de Fabry. Consummate professionals that all three of them are, there will undoubtedly be many fascinating surprises in store for connoisseurs among the pieces they choose to display. RIGHT: Figure.
