ART IN MOTION Skinner BOSTON—Skinner will hold its annual autumn sale on Dec. 1. The artworks to be offered is strong in Plains material, which includes a fi ne collection of Blackfeet beadwork, Southern Plains moccasins, an effi gy horn spoon, and an important Kiowa woman’s dress. Highlights from the North include a rare Tlingit shaman’s amulet from the mid nineteenth century and a sensitively rendered Inupiaq mask. Christie’s LONDON—Christie’s is planning an especially interesting sale to be held in its South Kensington saleroom on November 22. Eclectic offerings from the cabinet of curiosities formed by the late Seward Kennedy will be featured. Kennedy long had a stand on London’s Portobello Road and his personal collection has been described as an “Aladdin’s cave.” Property 62 from the collection of Tony Robinson Treen will also be featured. Heritage DALLAS—Heritage will hold a sale on September 16 featuring selections from the collection of James Silberman. The material includes artworks from Africa, Oceania, and the ancient Americas. Highlights include a large Ibo seated fi gure once owned by Warren Robbins, a fi ne Songye friction oracle, and an especially old and heavily patinated zoomorphic mask from the Cameroon Grassfi elds. The Pre-Columbian offerings are particularly strong in ceramics from Peru.
