His sensitivity to the artistic convergences between contemporary Western art and the arts from other parts of the world led Sacks to assemble an aesthetically refi ned collection with a special strength in the creations of traditional Yoruba artists from Nigeria and Benin. This subgroup in his collection includes an important bowl fi gure, collected in Nigeria in the 1950s by the Buenzli family. Prospective buyers will also fi nd other interesting groups of objects, such as a collection of Côte d’Ivoire heddle pulleys, Baule masks and fi gures, and a group of Shona and Tsonga headrests from Southern Africa. The preview for the auction will begin on October 11 Nukoro Online Sales WWW—June 26 was the launch date for Nukoro (www.nukoro.com), the latest online platform dedicated to the sale of tribal art objects on the web. The site was founded and created by Nicolas and Boris Sargos, who have a thorough understanding of the workings and particulars of the tribal art market. Nukoro will post new material for sale on its site on an ongoing basis, and its vendors will all be recognized dealers with established reputations—including Didier Claes, Joaquin Pecci, Adrian Schlag, Olivier Castellano, and Martin Doustar, among others. With these names, it is clear that Nukoro is endeavoring to satisfy the needs of both sellers and buyers, and the latter have the assurance that they are bidding on works that have been vetted by competent professionals. Moreover, the anonymity of buyers is guaranteed, and they can preplace a maximum bid on any lot they have interest in. Dealers will enjoy the advantage of being able to show beyond the walls of their galleries and to attract a new virtual clientele. UPPER LEFT: Bowl figure. Yoruba, Nigeria. Wood. H: 51 cm.
