Though a number of special exhibitions have come to the Bowers from China, it wasn’t until 2014 that the Bowers again had the opportunity to exhibit on a large scale in China. Over the last five years, more than 2,200 museums have been planned and built in China. While many of these architecturally elaborate buildings focus on local relics and treasures, some of the multi-gallery venues devote exhibition space to artwork from abroad.
