A highlight of this section will be a Ngbandi male ancestor figure that once belonged to Pablo Picasso (est. $250,000– 350,000). THE BILLY JAMIESON COLLECTION Toronto—More than 400 items from the collection of the late William “Billy” Jamieson will be offered at auction at Waddington’s in Toronto this spring. An active dealer and an avid collector, Jamieson was a wellknown figure in the tribal art field and will be remembered by many for his taste for the macabre and bizarre. Highlights of the sale include a massive Fijian cannibal fork, a large group of Polynesian war clubs, a malangan mask from New Ireland, and an iconic painted shield from Wahgi Valley in Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. The sale will also feature Native American items and natural history specimens formerly in the collection of the Niagara Falls Museum (which Jamieson bought with its collection intact) as well as from his personal collection of curios and crime, medical, and carnival memorabilia. More than 100 African weapons will also be featured. The sale will be held in two parts, with a live auction at Waddington’s on April 29 and an online sale held between April 29 and May 2.
