105 Music, ethnology, art history … It is indeed rare that so many disciplines should be a part of a single exhibition. Escultures Musicales is the Museu de la Música’s homage to the creativity of the cultures that these 130 instruments represent. It is also, and perhaps most of all, a way of honoring and recognizing Helena Folch’s and Alejandro Maluquer’s forty-year project: the creation of a unique collection of musical instruments from around the world and of a foundation whose purpose is to preserve this collection and to promote the better understanding of the works that comprise it, a process that is just now coming into fruition.
