81 ART on view seem consciously or unconsciously inspired by traditional objects. At least that is what the Dapper exhibition suggests with a display that plays on free associations between works that are older, traditional, and unique and ones that are contemporary, modern, and are, or at least could be, the result of a production run. Design en Afrique, S’asseoir, se Coucher, et Rêver (Design in Africa, Sitting, Sleeping, and Dreaming) is both a revisitation of the past and a window on the present. It will undoubtedly meet the high expectations of the Dapper’s visitors and will open new vistas for them in the exploration of the creativity that practical needs may inspire. It is a stimulating event that is worth seeing more than once.
