30 TEFAF Maastricht—A rendezvous not to be missed by connoisseurs of art and antiques, The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF) will be even larger than last year and, from March 15–24, 2013, will feature five dealers specializing in this field of tribal art. Anthony Meyer, who has been participating in TEFAF for sixteen consecutive years, will present a selection of Oceanic and Eskimo works of art, each with remarkable aesthetic qualities. Highlights include a club from one of the Marquesas Islands decorated with a multitude of depictions of ancestors and a small Eskimo ivory figure, a true tribute to the simplicity and delicacy of Northern art forms. Another regular of this international fair, Entwistle considers the excellence of the works presented to be a point of honor. The nineteenth-century Kota reliquary from the collection of Alain Schoffel that the gallery will offer stands as proof of this demand for quality. Bernard de Grunne and Galerie 1492, representing African and pre-Columbian art, respectively, will also delight the public with important works. Finally, in the “Showcase” section is first-timer Lucas Ratton. Inclusion here represents a great achievement for this young Parisian gallery owner, who plans to present around twenty objects of high quality, the most important of which will be a beautiful Luba calabash from the Democratic Republic of Congo, once part of the prestigious collection of Baudouin de Grunne.
